About Us

Experience You Can Count On

Forest Land Improvement began as a forestry consulting firm in 1976, serving the needs of landowners throughout eastern New Hampshire and Western Maine.  Since then, we have always put the needs of the forest and the objectives of the landowner first and foremost.  Whether managing for timber production, wildlife habitat, recreation, aesthetics, or any number of other objectives, we are here to help you get the most out of your property.

The three founding partners in the company, Donald Johnson, Robbin Rancourt and Scott Aspinall were committed to managing the land in a sustainable manner and the results of nearly 50 years of work are a testament to this belief.  Located in Chocorua Village in Tamworth since its inception, the office and base of operations recently moved to Ossipee following the retirement of Donald Johnson, the last of the three founding partners.  The company is now owned and managed by Timothy Nolin, a life-long resident of Carroll County and employee at Forest Land Improvement since the mid 1990's.  He received his B.S. in Forestry from Unity College in Maine.

Tim grew up as the fourth generation on a large working farm in Moultonborough, learning at an early age that if you took care of the land, it would, in turn, take care of you.  In addition to his professional work at Forest Land Improvement and involvement with the family farm, Tim currently serves as Vice-President of the Dan Hole Pond Watershed Trust and is a past member and Chairman of the Ossipee Conservation Commission.  He is an avid hunter, fisherman, and forager and enjoys anything that keeps him in the outdoors.

As a Licensed Forester in both New Hampshire and Maine, a Technical Service Provider certified to work with the USDA/Natural Resource Conservation Service and a Tree Farm Inspector, Tim is able to assist you with most any management needs you might have.

In addition to the many private landowners we work with, Forest Land Improvement provides management services to several Municipalities, helping them steward their Town Forests.  We currently work with the Towns of Conway, Jackson, Madison, Albany, Gilford, Brookfield, Barrington, Moultonborough and Dover.

For the last 20+ years we have also been working with the many Conservation Groups in the region, assisting them with management on their Fee Owned and Easement properties.  We work for The Nature Conservancy, The Upper Saco Valley Land Trust, Chocorua Lake Conservancy, Lakes Region Conservation Trust and the Dan Hole Pond Watershed Trust.
